FAQ: Barça in DC and Miami Summer 2017

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for FC Barcelona’s Summer 2017 International Champions Cup U.S. tour

(As of 27-March-2017)

What are the dates of Barça’s summer 2017 International Champions Cup U.S. tour ?

  • July 22 (6:00PM) vs Juventus at MetLife Stadium, E. Rutherford NJ
  • July 26 (7:30PM) vs Manchester United at FedEx Field
  • July 29 (7:30PM) vs Real Madrid at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami

Do you have ticket information about the match at FedEx Field or El Clásico in Miami?

  • We are limited to the information that the International Champions Cup shares with the public.  If you would like to sign up for pre-sale information, please visit this link:   http://elclasico.internationalchampionscup.com/
  • We believe that tickets for the Miami match will go on sale to the general public on Monday March 20 and are not sure about the date for Fed Ex Field tickets.

***When do tickets go on sale for the July 26 match at FedEx Field?***

  • Tickets go on sale through TicketMaster on Tuesday April 4, 10AM (DC time zone).

Will Penya DC be sitting in a special section at the FedEx match?

  • Since the tour has been managed by the International Champions Cup, we do not have any local contacts to obtain a special section.  We will alert our members if this situation changes.  In 2015, we used social media to help members share the locations of their tickets so that other members could purchase tickets nearby.

Will Penya DC be holding a special event at FedEx Field before the match?

  • In early July, we will assess the interest of our supporting members and we may decide to host a potluck-style tailgate party in a lot near FedEx Field as we did in 2011 and 2015.

Will Penya DC be receiving any official visits from FC Barcelona representatives?

  • This is an unknown at this time but we will contact the Club in the hopes that an official visit can occur.  In the past, FC Barcelona has sent a delegation to visit our Penya and share the opportunity to have photos taken with recently won trophies.
  • Please be aware that FCB has a tendency of sharing information with us at the last minute.  If any visit takes place, then it will be an event for “Supporting Members only.”  We will send an e-mail invitation to our current members as soon as we have any details.

Will Penya DC members have a chance to meet the Barça players?

  • Our experience has shown us that we will most likely not receive visits from any Barça players.  This is due to the tight schedule during the tour, the restrictions that coaches place on the squad, and other conflicts with events set up for major Barça sponsors and partners.

Do you know how to get tickets for the training session on the day before the match at FedEx Field?

  • Since this event became property of the International Champions Cup, we have had to rely on their corporate sponsors for tickets to the training session.  In 2015, Guinness provided several tickets to the Elephant & Castle for a special raffle.   We have yet to learn what will happen this year.

Do you know where the team will be staying in DC?

  • We do not have this information but it may be available through Catalan sports media or the FCB website in the days leading up the visit.  Generally speaking, we will not publicize this information out of respect for the privacy and safety of players.

Will Penya DC be organizing a group trip to Miami?

  • No, but we believe that several people from DC will make the journey to see the Clásico in Miami.  Any members who wish to link up with members of the Miami Penya should contact them via Facebook or Twitter to see what events they have planned.
